UBC @ Dodd Street reBoot
For their recent street intervention, Dodd Street reBoot, Co-Design Studios asked the Urban Bush Carpenters (UBC) to get involved. I teamed up with landscaper and Master of Landscape Architecture student, Phil Harkin, to work on the installation made of salvaged timber. The final installation received a great response from all involved.
Urban Bush Balcony
The community consultation process conducted by Co-Design highlighted a need of local residents for innovative and low-cost ideas for small balcony and backyards. Affectionately called the Urban Bush Balcony, the UBC installation aims to demonstrate what is possible in a small space at a super low cost using majority salvaged materials.
Three large pallets form the a low decking. Deconstructed old pallets, salvaged timber and used plant pots where the primary materials used in the installation. Being mostly constructed in my backyard, screws made for easy deconstruction and relocation.
It was great seeing people enjoy the installation at the VCA final year exhibition opening.
